Dan Schmidt was born and raised in Michigan and attended Albion College, graduating with a Business Management degree.  After graduating from college, Dan started his first entrepreneurial opportunity with a bakery franchise in Florida.  He also worked as a buyer, and in sales.

One day Dan's Father approached him saying that his employer, Meijer, was looking at relamping their stores, and perhaps he should try his hand at that type of business.  With a van, scaffolding and 3 people, Reliable Relamping, Inc. was started. 

After working multiple years in the field as an installer, it became necessary to stay in his home office to manage and grow the business.  Shortly after, he hired his first office employee and the business took off.

Located today in Saranac, Michigan, Reliable Relamping has grown to over 100 employees and is currently doing electrical service work in over 19 states, with lighting retrofit projects nationwide. Reliable Relamping was the recipient of the Acuity Brands Lighting Turnkey Services Vendor of the Year Award in 2018, and has been a 3 consecutive year member of the Inc. 5000;   Dan is married and has 3 children.
